Stacey and Jacob's Engagement
This past Saturday we headed down to Corona del Mar to do an engagement session with Stacey and Jacob. They will be getting married in August of '08 and especially after this E-session, we are so excited about capturing their wedding! It's always refreshing to be around truly genuine people who love each other so much, which is why we enjoy them. As you can see from the pictures, Stacey and Jacob are really fun in front of the camera because they have a great time with each other and are willing to try anything (even getting soaked in cold Pacific water!) They climbed around on the rocks and tidepools, balancing precariously close to the incoming waves, braved the cold waves and sea weed flying through the air (JACOB!!!), got covered with sand, and even found a baby octopus while we were out there! All in all, it was a pretty awesome day (for those of us who were still dry :) and we hope they had as much fun as we all did.
Below are a few of our favorites from this session! Of course, don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of this post for their whole slideshow! Just click on the slideshow to start it.
Within the wedding photographer community, "Trash the dress" sessions have been the hot element to add to those packages for those who are ready and willing. Now of course some of you are asking, "What is a trash the dress session anyway?". Its for those brides who have no plans to save their dress for their future daughter or grandaughter nor desire to preserve its fresh from the designer beauty, have an adventurous spirit, and a willingness to try new things. Basically everything and anything you would NEVER do in your wedding dress on your wedding day is now free game!!
So...one day while my wife and family were driving down the freeway trying to decide what we were going to do for my daughters 7-year old photos, my wife jokingly mentioned "To bad we couldn't do a trash the dress session". Of course I just passed it off for a couple of seconds but then I froze with excitement. You see...our 7-year old has been in 3-4 weddings within the past 1-2 years and has dresses we bought for the typical ONE time use! I thought to myself "There is no rule it has to be a bride or bridesmaid"?. You just need a willing vessel and a dress right!!! COOL! Lets do it!! The way any So. Cal kid would do it. Put them in the dress and let them do what kids do best! Run around and play, eat ice cream, and get wet! Lets face it...when my daughter heard "Ice Cream" there was no need to talk her into it!
This past Saturday we made it happen. Mom put our beauty into one of her 4 dresses of choice, a little make up, hair work and we were on our way. We started first with some laid back portraits and then elevated it up a notch for some fun photojournalism to allow my little girl to just be herself. What a little model she was. Of course her having a SLR stuck in her face practically her whole life had nothing to do with her being a total ham!! We then headed out for ice cream. For the first time in her life, my daughter heard the words, "No Napkins", "Get as messy as possible", and "Just let it drip all over"! I think she thought we had lost it for sure. Of course she willingly complied and once finished we headed for the local fountain to "Rinse off".
For those of you in the I.E. this past Saturday had some weird weather...it was sunny, but windy with a very cool chill in the air. Our big girl pulled off what you see most models endure. She just finished ice cream, and now she about to drench herself from head to toe in very cold water in the wind!! Talk about a tough cookie. Once done, mommy was fountain side with a towel to warm up our shivering, pale star. As you'll see in the slide show below, she did an amazing job and she is very pleased with her photos. We hope you like them and we are so happy we get to share them with you all.
Enjoy the show and drop us a line and tell us what you think!. Damion.
